Hi! I'll be playing OMG! Jump! A Mouse! tomorrow on stream along with several others games from the jam at 3:30pm EST. I'll be talking about any interesting design decisions as I play, and suggesting improvements if any come to mind. Please feel free to join me live, it'll be extra fun to chat together about your game while playing it :)

Here's the segment where I played your game! Thanks so much for joining the stream, it was great to chat with you and your lovely community. Big big BIG congrats to you for making a game while hosting a jam, I tried that once and it didn't go so hot! I hope to see you on stream next time, and I'll keep my eye out for the next GDQ jam :D

You rock! Thank you so much for streaming. It really helped community engagement! Don't be a stranger <3

Phew, I made it through the game! A few things:

  • There are many sections where you can't see the block you're supposed to land on when jumping, making it artificially difficult to complete.
  • Personally, the player movement in the air felt too "slippery". It seems like your horizontal movement does not decay while in the air, making it very difficult to predict your jumps
  • Occasionally, I would both kill the enemy and die while doing so

Other than that, the level design was pretty solid! I really enjoyed the springs and the overall art of the game

Thank you so much for playing! Great feedback. I agree about the areas of improvement. It was something I wanted to fix but ran out of time to get to. The player movement was definitely too floaty, and the camera could use work so the blocks don't get out of view so often. Thanks again for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
